Homeopathic Doctors in Maharashtra
CCMP Qualified Doctors
In Maharashtra, there are approximately 90,000 homeopathic doctors, out of which nearly 9,500 doctors have successfully completed the CCMP course. In 2013, all homeopathic doctors' associations across the state united and launched a historic movement in Nagpur under the banner of the होमिओपॅथक डॉक्टर अन्याय निवारण संघर्ष समिती and Action Committee.
This movement was guided by Dr. Arun Bhasme, Dr. Rajni Indulkar, Dr. Somnath Gosavi, and Dr. Vijay Pawar. During this agitation, Dr. Arun Bhasme, Dr. Rajesh Ranjanikar, and several other protestors observed an indefinite hunger strike for 13 consecutive days. Nearly 30,000 homeopathic doctors and students participated in this landmark struggle.
To ensure the effective implementation of this course, sustained efforts were undertaken in 2016 at the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). During the Mahayuti government tenure, with the support of then Medical Education Minister Vinodji Tawde; Rajeshji Pandey (In-charge, वैद्यकीय विकास मंच); Coordinator Dr. Ashutosh Gupta; Dr. Kishor Malokar; Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Ajitji Gopchade; Dr. Balasaheb Harpale; and the then Senate Members of MUHS, the first CCMP batch was successfully launched.
Soon after the commencement of the first batch, the IMA Pune Branch approached the court with the intention of shutting down the CCMP course. However, all such attempts were dismissed by the High Court.
As the number of CCMP-qualified doctors continued to grow, focused and sincere efforts were made to initiate MMC registration. These efforts were led by then MCH President Dr. Vilas Harpale, Dr. Ajit Funde Patil, Dr. Rajkumar Patil, Dr. Bhalchandra Thakre, Dr. Nitin Gavade, Administrator Dr. Somnath Gosavi, Dr. Viplav Kavishwar, Dr. Sunil Mulik, Dr. Pratik Tambe, Dr. Anand Kapse, and then Director of Homeopathy Dr. Govind Tittar, laying a strong and essential foundation toward MMC registration.
In 2025, a strategic and visionary leader in the homeopathic field, Dr. Balasaheb Pawar (State President, NCP Doctors Cell and Chairman, Shiva Trust), took decisive initiative. Along with Administrator Dr. Bahubali Shah, he presented the matter in a comprehensive and scholarly manner before Chief Minister Hon. Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajitdada Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Medical Education Minister Hasanji Mushrif.
Crucial guidance and support were received from Dr. Rajni Indulkar; MLA Vikram Kale (President, Homeopathic College Federation); and Prithviraj Patil (Sangli). Through their relentless efforts and cooperation, the path for MMC registration was finally cleared.
Throughout this long and challenging journey, the Homeopathic College Federation, various homeopathic associations, and dedicated homeopathic doctors played an active and committed role. Regarding MMC registration, I had multiple discussions—along with Dr. Amit Bhasme and other association members—with Advocate Rajaram Bansode, who represented the MCH side in court.
The advocate advised: "Dr. Gaikwad, you should form a registered association exclusively for doctors who have passed CCMP, so that their education does not go to waste. By registering the CCMP Homeopathic Doctors Association, the organization will be able to intervene in court cases on behalf of the association and the 9,500 qualified doctors."
I shared this vision with Dr. Arun Bhasme and Dr. Balasaheb Pawar, who immediately encouraged me to proceed. Within just one month, in the interest of protecting our collective rights, we successfully established our rightful organization.
